Yesterday my husband and I met up with the lovely Becky Gowers from the Cleft Lip & Palate Association Charity (CLAPA) so we could give her the money we raised for them. Becky is the Regional Coordinator for CLAPA covering the Midlands. We were over the moon to have raised £1057.62 for CLAPA and here we are with Becky in some photos that will be sent out to the local and regional media today with a press release:
With huge thanks to the manager and staff at the Great Park Brewers Fayre for allowing us to take these photos in their premises, the coffee was lovely!
We set ourselves an initial target of raising £500 for CLAPA as Christmas was on the horizon, and we are over the moon to have exceeded this, particularly given the time of year! We’d like to thank everyone who donated including BT Local Business/Elysium Communications Ltd, Scyron Ltd, South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, The Crown at Martley and all our family and friends as well as people like Rev’d David Southall and Rachel Carter at Worcestershire Royal Hospital for their help during this very difficult time. CLAPA have supported us immensely and even funded a 4D scan of Frankie so we could see the extent of his cleft lip and palate, and we’re looking forward to getting more involved with them as a charity in the future.
This can’t bring Frankie back but we hope through his legacy that we can help other parents with the money raised who have had a diagnosis of cleft lip and palate in their unborn children, for example by funding some additional 4D scans so they can see the extent of their child’s cleft lip and palate before they are born, as we did with Frankie.
This is only a tiny speck in the horizon of what we intend to do fundraising wise this year through Frankie’s Legacy as a charity and we already have an idea for something we want to raise additional money to give to CLAPA to fund….watch this space 🙂 xxx
